Kia Spectra questions and answers
Q: Does anyone know what the name of the new 2009 kia spectra commercial song is?
It is not "I just can't seem to get it right today". It has no words in the commercial. The melody is carried mainly by a piano (It was also in a kia year-end event commercial, and in an Ambush Boarding Co. Commercial.)

Q: how do find info and details on rebuilding my own transmission for a KIA spectra 2002?
My kia has a hard time going into gear when I first shift it into drive or reverse. I have to feather the gas peddel to get it to ingage. If I just step on the gas and try to drive off it will slam into gear after the rpms are over 2000. I need to know what and or how much to rebuild.

Q: i have a 2000 kia spectra gsx and i have a transmission question?
my transmission does not move untill it warms to max temp and then its fine but it wont go into 3rd gear at all, so im at 4000 rpms at 70mph. do i need a transmision or is there another way out. oh yea....... my engine light and o/d light is on the o/d light flashes. please help... i really dont wanna replace a transmission, only 70,000 mile on it!
A: The OD light is a warning that the Computer has identified a failure in the transmission and can no longer control it. The Check Engine light is warning you that it has identified a failure somewhere in the powertrain that will probably cause emissions to rise to a level more than 1-1/2 times the maximum allowable for this vehicle. With both lights on, and the fact that you cannot get into high gear, it is clear that the trans needs work, and that fact causes the engine to work at a level where emissions are extreme. I am afraid that you need to either replace the transmission or take the car to a transmission shop for diagnosis. most shops will offer some insight at no cost, but you can expect a tear-down fee if you want a complete estimate. Good Luck
Q: what type of transmission fluid is used in a 5 speed kia spectra?

Q: Where can I get a reasonably priced Window Tinting done for my 06 Kia Spectra in the Chicagoland Area?
Im trying to get a reasonable price for Window Tinting, but all I have found was way to expensive. Let me know if you know of any good shops to go to.
A: Here is a place in Schaumburg that I have used once and my son has used twice. They do outstanding work at what I think is a reasonable price...not sure what that means to you. www.mid-americaglasstinting.com
Q: how much should I expect to pay to locate check engine error and detect a fuel line leak for 02 kia spectra?
A: You might as well have them both checked out at the same place... it could cut down on the diagnostic charge if they are somehow related. Either way, most places start with either an hour, or hour and a half of diagnostic time. Don't pick a place just based on their hourly rate though... a place charging more per hour could very well take less time than the place charging less per hour. (in fact, it's very likely and is sometimes done on purpose) Diagnosis and repair are two seperate services, and you will most likely be charged for both. While many shops will lower or remove the diagnosis fee if they were able to find the problem quickly, it's not at all an indication of their honesty... so don't expect that, or feel you got ripped off if you are charged for it. Listen to what they tell you and you will know what to expect. If you are charged for diagnosis however, they should have a seperate labor charge for the diagnosis time, with a decent description of what they did as well as the labor time and rate. (which sometimes is a higher rate than their hourly repair rate, so ask) I wish I could tell you what it would cost, but prices vary all over the place. All you can do is call around, and know what to look for. They should be willing to walk out to your vehicle and check out your concerns with you, to make sure they fully understand. BTW just about any repair shop will provide the same "service" as autozone or those other auto parts stores for free as well. Because it's a completely worthless service on it's own. Spotting the fuel leak shouldn't take long at all, and is often a very inexpensive repair (less than 60 bucks inspection & repair) Repair of the problem causing the check engine light can vary from nothing (tightening gas cap) to thousands of dollars... no way to know without the diagnosis. I'd guess that your trip to the shop for the diagnosis of the light and finding and possibly repairing the leak will run between 100 and 200, unless additional testing is needed.

Q: my ABS light on the dashboard of my KIA spectra just came on.?
Help[ what does this mean. Second hand car and it did not come with an owners manual.
A: It means that there is a problem with your Anti Lock Brakes system. Din;t worry, the car is still drivable, but you want to take it to a shop and get it checked out as soon as possible.
Q: Is a Kia Spectra a good car for a first car? ?
I am looking for a used car. I found a Kia Spectra but know nothing about them. Are they good cars? Would this be a good deal: 2004 Kia SpectraEX 59,000 miles $7,495
A: My family owns that same car and model and love it. Right now it has over 90,000 miles on it and hasn't been in the shop once for a repair; only oil changes. It drives very nicely and is very compfortable. The deal you show is also great. If I were you I would go for it. Keep in mind that the person that responded before me may be reffering to the 2004 kia spectra. The one you are talking about is a 2004.5 which is the redisigned one. I know this because the 2004.5 is when the EX came out and you said you were looking at an EX. Some dealers still may reffer to it as a 2004 though.

A: Sounds like your engine is junk to me.
Q: I recently purchased an 07 Kia Spectra?
Does any one know of any problems associated with this make and model?
A: KIA are good vehicles, the reason they get such a bad rap is because the majority of people they sell to do not take care of the vehicle. It is very important to follow the maintenance schedule, especially with the timing belts this is the number one thing that happens with KIA cars. When a belt brakes 9 out of 10 times it will also destroy your head and valves will break and dent the top of your pistons. Read the maintenance schedule in your owners manual and save your money to have it done.
Q: Rear Disck brakes on Kia Spectra?
I am attempting to change my rear pads on my 2006 Kia Spectra however the piston on the calliper wont close. What suggestion do you have to install my pads?
A: DO NOT USE A C-Clamp to push back rear pistons. 90% of rear pistons on Calipers must be "screwed" back into the cylinder. There should be some notches on the top of the piston that you can place a tool into to slowly turn the piston back into the caliper. (You can try a pair of pliers, but typically it's very slow and it's just cheaper and safer to purchase the proper tool for the job) They can rent you the tool from your local auto parts store. The tool typically looks like: http://www.drivewerks.com/catalog/shopcart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_CAT265_pg18.htm You align up the pins of the tool with the pins of your caliper and use a ratchet to turn the piston back into the cylinder.
